As I read the book.........

As I read the book, I thought. Wow, they were just animals. They worked for humans, slept in barn, and they were just like normal animals in other farms. But now, they are living lik human. Have society, rulers and workers. Also, I recognized there are many similarities between "Animal Farm", and "Lord of the Flies".
The theme of the book "Lord of the Flies" Is about human's nature (vice or virtue). When people are in new land, the land without pollution or social conflicts but only filled with nature, how would they chage? The children came to the inhabitant land devided in two groups and one group desired ideal like but the other hunted, swam, strengthened their body, to survive and became very wild.
In this book "Animal farm", the NEW land(the inhabotant land) is the farm without Mr.Joens. and after Mr.Jones ran away, there were also little seperation. Napoleon desired communism but otherwise, Snowbell wanted democracy which is the best to animals. But soon Snowbell chased by dogs(Ralph chased by the peole of Jack). And the remained leader(Jack), Napoleon lead the animals and the animals got into worse situation that when there was Mr.Jones. But to pigs, luxury and joy was given.
So I thought. Sometimes we dream of go to the land without any conflicts but only nature, and live new life with people. But now I say it's impossible. When the land is peacful, one comes out, take over the land, and rule it and after that, more people come, and try to rule, then society formed again and also levels. This is continuous.

About the charaters

Snowbell: He is one of the two leaders in animal farm. He stands for democracy. He wants more to treat animals equal, give voices, and make them feel less stressful. He is the only leader who really think of animals. He wanted what is what was best for the animals. He was the one who could lead thw animals to the world they have expected. But later Snowell chased by Napoleon's secret polices, dogs.
Napoleon: He is the other leader in the farm. Napoleon doesn't stand for democracy but communism. He is a reival of Snowbell since their wants is different. What Snowbell wanted from animal farm was happiness and freedom. However, what Napoleon warnted was power and being like a human. He is very greaady and only think of this own goods.
When I look at politians, I always think there are different thinks and conflicts beween them.

Climax

I think the climax of this book, "Animal Farm" is when the pigs appeared in front of their fellow animals on their two feet, holding whips and clothing. The pigs were the one who lead the other animals to expel Mr.Jones and made there own world. They acted like they are really helping the animals but they were actually cheating and using them for there benefit.
These animal's was fulled with hated of humans. So they made seven commandments that shows how much they hate human. They bacame like human who they'be hated for years.
Also they even sell one of their comrade, Boxer.

Theme of this story and why is it important to teenagers living in 2008?

The author, George Orwell's trying to tell us the wrong of the head in this society. And the rivals political leader Snowball and Napolean is the example that support this theme. This story is telling figuratively about now aday administration very well. The world can't survive without any knowledge, cheat each other to keep their place, being greedy, sometime can even kill their comrade for their own goods....

This story is important to teenager to know this world. The undless conflicts and fights with others, by their heads. And it also tells us that ths world is never equal.

Mood of the Book.

In the story "Animal farm", there is a change of mood. Like the book I read before (Lord of the flies), this story also begins with quite happy and joyful feels in the beginning. The animals' rebellion had gone well, and they seemed like living the life that they have desired for long time. They worked hard, learned, and take enough break and even some leisure. However, after Snowball is chased off the land by Napoleon, the animal's equality, hope and happiness vanished. The hope for the future of the animals was gone. The land of freedom(animal farm)that was planned out for all of the farm now only applied to the pigs only. Also, this farm was supposed givw equal voice and right to other animals wich is called a democracy, but it turned in to communism.

There land(animal farm) was made by all the animal includes pigs, who wanted to live ideal and equal life. their start seemed happy and full with joy. But this mood changed by dictator (Napoleon). Now, their future is dark, hopless

#1 Meaningful Passage

Please choose one passage from the novel that is significant to you. Why is this passage meaningful? Please type it into one of your entries and comment on what you think about the passage.

“The Seven Commandments
1. Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.
2. Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
3. No animal shall wear clothes.
4. No animal shall sleep in bed.
5. No animal shall drink alcohol.
6. No animal shall kill any other animal.
7. All animals are equal.” (p. 43)
The seven commandments from the Animal Farm sounded very fun and new to me. I gave me a chance to look at this world with different eyes. As living as a human, and only considering about our future and our benefit, the others thoughts and feellings are usually forgottten and annoyed. When I first saw the seven commetments, I felt good how they are plaing their own happy and equal life. However it also sounded pretty scary to me. I could feel how much they detest humans.

In the beginning, the animals follow the rules very well and seemed like they are living their ideal and happy life. But soon they hope and happiness disappeared. Since the pigs(brain workers) got the most power, they became the rulers, required labor to their friends(other animals), lived in Mr.Jone's home, and later they finally became blinded bt human materials. I looked at the seven commandments after I finish tje book. I was speechless. They lead others to kick out Mr.Jones, because of his selfishness and greed. They made the rules to live equal. But they are the one who breaking are the rules.

If I could be a goddess

I could be a goddess, I would love to be a goddess of happiness.

Me, Yuri, Goddness of happiness.

Angles are my servants. I ride unicorn, fly in the beautiful sky, able to talk with all the animals. Go to walk in deep forest, plant flowers and trees.I Have white skin with pink cheek, wear flowers around my hair and whole body. Have twisted long hair, eyes full of joy. Anyone who sees me, their conflicts are gone and they become happy. When I see people who have sad face, I give a flower of blessing and sweetness. Sometimes I occur in peoples dream and present the most beautiful scene in the world.

I know that there are so many people who lives their life with pain, troubles, and lonliness. There are people who're not being happy of their existence. I don't like this. Since I was very young, my dreaed of world full of happiness. Everyone smiles, laaugh, hug, satisfy..

Medusa

Medusa is one of the monsters,Gorgons, and the only one who was mortal. Any one who looked at her turned into a stone. There is a myth that Medusa was originally a beautiful young lady. She desecrated Athena's temple by lying there with Poseidon. Athena got so mad and cursed her. Medusa's hair into living snakes and became a moster.
Medusa was killed by the hero Perseus with the help of Athena and Hermess. He killed her by using mirror and cut of her head and gave it to Athena, who placed it in the center of her Aegis, which she got from her dad, Zeus.

Athena

Athena is a goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill. She's well known as a goddess who kept her virginity. She was the favorite child of Zeus. She had born from her father's head. Her mother was Metiz. She is a goddess of wisdom and Zeus' first wife.Athena and her uncle Poseidon were both very fond of a same city in Greece. Both of them wanted the city and it was decided that the one that could give the better gift to the people should have it. Poseidon struck the side of the cliff with his trident and a spring welled up. The people surprised, but the water was as salty as sea so it wasn't very useful. Athena's gift was an olive tree, which was better because it gave the people food, oil and wood. Athena named her city Athens.
Also, Athena's companion was the goddess of victory, and her usual attribute is the owl.

Athena and Hercules, they are both child of Zeus, and regarded as a hero. But except for this, they don't really have similarities. Hercules grown up in human's world, and think like an human. Also he choose to be a human to live with his love, Meg. But Athena, she lived with gods and goddess for long time and she's more like a goddess more than a human. Compared to Hercules, she is very trict, treat people with wisdom.

Lord Of The Flies

#6 ***

Raulph vs. Jack

When we coonsider about the situation children had, the wise leader may be Jack, but not Raulph. Ralph was the most ideal and intelligent boy but there's not any ground(reason) that he must be the leader. Only, WE wants him to the leader in story. The situation which has almost no possibility for rescue, Raulph granted authority to thr conch and open conferences, which is far away from the reality they have in the island. In contrast, Jack has resolution and brave
to destruck the danger(living in the island). In the inhibitat island, the thing that threaten their lives was 'hunger'. Therefore, Jack recognized that gettings foods is the most urgent emergency, and the problem.
If they were in generous and normal society, Raulph would be the right leader. But he adhered civilized rules and life to the people who have to survive from hunger. It seemed foolish. Also, his style of ruling was some kind of imitaion of how the adults rule our society these days. So, there was limit to lead them, and the children left him one by one. And later he realize everything he learned in school such as morality, sense of value and forms weren't helpful but useless to these children and situation.
But Jack was very realistic. First, he broke all the rules and customs they had, and he gather the children with the name 'freedom'. They slept, played and hunt any time. It shows Jack realized the form of 'primitive right' is mostly formed and realated with the subsistence. So, he also aimed for 'eat heartily'. Jack make them recognize that: at least, if they follow them they won't starve; Also by painting face with blood and paint, realeases their shame and inferiority. Then, he promote the fear and don't let them get outfrom his group. Jack plants some fear and remind them who the real leader.

Settings in the book, "Lord Of The Flies"

During the children livesin the island, they think there are some kind of beast, the lord of the flies. And they starts to scare of it. I think this setting was the starting point for all the dreadful miseries. They afraided of thing that doesn't exist. And the children created the existence of the beast. One day, they didn't notice Simon but as the beast, and kill him. Start then, they started to loose thei mind. They turns really wild. I had said and emphasized that human's nature is cruel. But, since started to think about the story, I realized another thing. The conflicts and the killings, that didn't happened because of their vice. But it happened by their fear. Hinting, painting face, and acts like primitive, these are their living device. In the island, there are no people, and everthing is not developed. The only wat to survive in the island is to be primitive, watmeats to get energy to live. But, they fear of the existence of the beast, and there were no one who can take care of them. And scared of the existence, and did the things to survive. Also,Whether if human is vice or virtue, it's not a important thing. By periodic situation or one person's choice, we have to come and go between 'savagenes and civilization'.
Here's another setting I want to share about. The Piggy's glasses. The conch in this story symbols 'authority', but Piggy's glasses symbols 'entity' which is helpful for real life in the island. To Larph, it's the thing for 'light up the signal fire', and to Jack, it used for 'cooking meet'. To Larph and Jack, glasses are the things that they can acconplish their desire and get support from the other children. Finally the glasses bring conflicts between the two groups and even became another starting point of the miseries and the death of their friends. Glasses are for preserving eyesight, and it symbols knowledge and civilization. But if it used in wrong way, there is change in quality. And it's the message of the warning.

The climax of the story

The climax of this story is when the officers found the children and relief them.
Ralph was escaping from the group of Jack. They were chasing him to kill him. And they make big fire on the island. Simon and Piggy already died and Jack trys to kill the remained one, Jack. All of them, alreay lost their mind, forget all the common sense, even forget the value of life, with out any emotions, killing. But when the adults arrive, they stop, and confused. Before they came to the boys, so many things (include killling) happened to them but adults can't even imagine what they did. The child were try to murder and made fire, but the adults only think it as some kind of play or game. SO, to children and us, reader, all the things that happened are very huge things. But in the officer's point-of-view, it's nothing. And all the conflicts they had being buried. The conflicts buried in themselves and it will be forgotten memory.

Moods of the story and the sadness I found

Generally, there are 2 moods in the story. The first part the story is rather calm, quite, and peacful. But as I read the story, mood tunrns in to more dark, primitive, scary and even teriible.
Because, the first part of the story was beautiful and calm, I felt really sad. When the children first came to the island, they made some rules, build their own home, and work on finding food. Also, the children had nice time together. SO, I thought, these childrens are doing very well. they are very public and educated. Later, they got tired if working and they started to just play and eat. Swims all the day and eats bananas. 'Childs are childs. they are still young, they can do that'I thought. But they started to ignore all the rules they've made, and started to divided. They hunts, throw away their educated, ideal life, kill peoples and don't even feel conscience.
This story gave me this thought: May be human's inside is very cruel and dirty. It scared me. It made me afraid of myself. Even we have strict rules, have civilization, and live public. There are still so many people who lost their mind, try to escape from ideal life, and try to find their own color. And I found commons between them. They are not taken care by someone. Because there are no one who takes care of then and give attention, they are going to the wrong way. And try to escape. Then start to lost their mind.

About the main characters

Main characters of this story is Larph, Jack, Piggy and Simon.
Larph, he is a boy with fairy hair. He has desposition to be a leader and have enough capapbilty to lead the children in right and ideal way. But he is not calm and persisten enough to fight against Jack's resistance. Compared to Jack he wants more peacful, fair and ideal life. And in contrast, he symblos a man with value of civilization, which also means virtue.
Another leader in this story, Jack is different with Larph. He is always related with shadows and darkness. He dreams of being dictator, and he is in the island. He symblos moral infamy, wants firm liberty from civilization, entesion of power. But he doesn't have any concern or insterest in leading children.
Larph's helper, Piggy is very fat weat glasses, and has asthma. He has wick body and most of the chidren ignores him. But he is very wise and Larph's brain. He symbols actualism. He tries to slove problems betweens the two group, but later he killed by Jack's people.
Lastly, Simon. He is the only one who tries to face people with virtue. When every one was devoted with their own instinction, he was treats people with the norm of value which he learned form the ideal, and educated humanity. Also, he thinks if norm, value and education of ideal world are usless in that place.
Personally, I like Simon. When the children first came to the island, that place was very beautiful, and calm. We can also think this place as the land God first gave us. The place is full of nature and beautiful, but by humankinds, this place is turning to dreadful and evil place. But Simon is the only one who tried to keep his virtue in that situation. Sadly, he murdered by his friends. It gave me these thoughts: Is vice stonger than virtue? Can vice damage and kill vice? The thing happening is the island is maybe also happening in this world. Puching and killing each other, tries to escape from ideal land, tempted to vice, hates virtue.

1. The theme and how is it related to teenager in 2008.

The author is trying to show us the origial nature of human. Telling human's nature is virtue or vice.
By airplane accident, these children (in the book) came to the uninhabited island. In that place, there wasn't any adults, and they were the only people in the island. So, they had to live by themselves. As the time passed through, their instinct revealed. There wasn't any rules, and rhere wasn't any adults. They were(the children) people who have freedom to live freely in thier own way in this place without religion, culture, common sense or educated ideal. Later, by each one of the children's instict, the conflicts reveals and divided into two groups. Who tries to live without any rules, or civilized human's thinks, be cruel and simple-minded, which reveals vice. Ans also the people who are very religious, try to make rules and pursuit ideal life, which reveales human's virtue.
"Humans are virtue or vice" it was very interesting question to me. And before I read the book, I though humans would be very nice and gentle inside. But in this story, it told me that without any rules or sense, most of the people will be evil and wrong, but also their will be few people lives with virtue.
Teenagers living in 2008. In teenager, most of our personality or chacter formed. We can be more cruel or selfish people or more calm and ideal people. And, the environment around us can be one of the most important factor that will form our nature and character. However, even if you are in good and very educated place, it doesn't mean you will be a person who borned with virtue. Because, you will make the choice to be vice or virtue. and your choice will be your instinct. We(teenager) as grow up, we'll have many conflicts(inside or out). And when those conflicts come to us, we'll expose our instinct. Then, you have to make a choice, be primitive and slfish or be very ideal and true. Any time, unexpectedly, we can be in place without any rules and you have to rule and decide by yourself. And if you chose to be bad, you can have more benefits and easier time. But otherwise, if we chose to be right and true, you'll have to have harder time and be tired. You will make a choice and it will affects to all the people around you.

Lord of the fly #1

Major theme& to a teenager in 2008

In this book, "Lord of the flies" the author is trying to show us the real nature of human by using the children's perspective. And this book is written by the distipute, "Is human's mind controled by vitue or tice?".
These chilren. They got to changed since they came to the place where their's no adults, ideal world, rules or common senses. The cultural life and humanlike existence disappeared and the only the primitive life remained to them.
